DVB-H systems
DESCRIPTION
Mobile Television
The DVB-H (Digital Video Broadcast Handheld) system is a variant of the DVB-T system, especially developed for small portable devices, e.g. cellular phones. The system specification is described in the European norm EN 302 304.Digital TV in the DVB-H system allows the reception of audio/video content in mobile devices (palmtops, cellular phones) and other multimedia devices.
DVB-H was formally accepted as an ETSI (European Telecommunications Standard Institute) standard in November 2004 and adapted to the existing terrestrial digital TV (DVB-T) standard. The DVB-T technology has been modified to overcome technological limitations connected with powering and increasing the mobile device battery lifetime.
The DVB-H system can work in the following frequency ranges:
- VHF-III (170-230 MHz or a part of this band)
- UHF-IV/V (470-862 MHz or a part of this band)
- L (1.452-1.492 GHz)
