The main standards used for building HSD systems in CATV networks are: DOCSIS (Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification) and its European variant - EuroDOCSIS. The key element of such a system is CMTS (Cable Modem Termination System), controlling operation of cable modems installed at subscribers' homes. In order to provide additional services in CATV networks, the data transmission system must be reliable and must offer proper transmission quality. Data transmission technology and the quality of service control are defined in an appriopriate standard.
